![]() Green clothingįinding green clothing was the most simple part of the costume. The construction is really simple and the function is fantastic! The tail has gotten a ton of use and I have more tails I plan to make just for play around the house. Hunter’s green dinosaur tail with black spikes came straight from this tutorial on running with scissors. All in all it probably took me 5-6 hours, but since it was spread out over a week the project didn’t seem challenging or overwhelming at all. After that the paper mache is added and to finish it paint is applied. The mask starts with a construction hat, it is then shaped with cardboard pieces, balloons for the eyes and lots of tape to add more shape. I hadn’t paper mache’d in probably close to 20 years, and it was such fun! I’m seriously thinking about all the things I want to paper mache now. I found a tutorial for this diy paper mache dinosaur mask and knew I had to make it. There were three parts that helped to create Hunter’s costume: the t-rex paper mache mask, the dinosaur tail and green clothing. The next post with be my adorable butterfly girl Zoe! ![]() Today I’m going to share Hunter’s t-rex costume and all the parts to it. I’m so happy with how their costumes came together. It was invigorating letting my creative side come out again and actually sewing after a solid 8 month hiatus (hello third baby!). ![]() The kids picked out what they wanted to be and I ran with it. This year I made two costumes: a green dinosaur t-rex and an orange butterfly. I love how kids make everything more fun! However, after having kids and getting the joy of making their costumes + watching their excitement for trick or treating has changed how I looked at the holiday. In the past, Halloween really wasn’t a day I was super into. Today I’m here to share Hunter’s costume with you – a DIY T-Rex costume! Hello and happy November! Last night we took the kids trick of treating with some friends and had a blast. ![]()

The cast is rounded out by Lavelle Roby as Nurse, Denise Cheshire as Candy Striper, Fred D. Brindle (Lucille Meredith), and he arrests Nurse Jennie Wells, whom Jessica believes innocent and solicits the counsel of Milton Porter. Jessica agrees and suggests that they begin with a search of the crime scene, before she questions the neighbor, Mrs. Lieutenant Ray Jenkins (Bo Hopkins) appears in Jessica's hospital room the next morning, he politely requesting her assistance in investigating the murder, for which he finds himself at a loss for understanding several clues. Widower of nine years, Barney Ogden (Eddie Bracken), and cheerful widow Sadie Winthrope (Martha Raye) spend their days at Samuel Garver Hospital, they also exchanging a few barbs with each other and the nurses, as well as with Jessica, who encounters Barney in the lounge this evening, as he watches an 11:00 newscast in solitude. Bickering couple Billy Don Baker (James Gammon) and Melanie Barker (Victoria Carroll) also attend Doctor Sam's reception, when Melanie reminds him of her scheduled check-up at the hospital in the morning. "Doctor Sam," as Garver prefers to be addressed by his patients, tosses a lavish dinner party at his nearby residence this evening, inviting Wes Kenyon to this, with the idea of inviting Ellison to brunch this coming Sunday, in order to prevent the appearance of displaying partiality. Pencil lead train carving by Cindy Chinn.Ĭindy Chinn is an artist based in Nebraska who works in a variety of media including paint, clay, assemblage, wood, metal, and most recently, pencil lead. Artist Salavat Fidai explains, “It’s like meditation and a challenge: to make a micro sculpture and not break it! It is indeed very fragile and tiny and that excites me the most.” Since the slip of a tool can destroy a nearly completed sculpture, staying focused but not overthinking is essential in order to maintain control of the material and tools. As with meditation, micro carving requires the artist to be in the moment, giving unhurried attention to his or her practice. I decided to change the way I thought about the work – when I started a new piece my attitude would be ‘well this will break eventually but let’s see how far I get.’ It helped me break fewer pencils, and although I still do break them, it’s not as often.”Ĭarving micro miniatures might seem tedious however, if you talk to the artists, they will tell you it is actually relaxing, relating it to meditation. I would get very nervous sometimes, particularly when the piece was almost finished, and then I would make a mistake. He explains the challenge, “It would drive me mad when I would be just a bit too heavy-handed and the pencil’s tip would break. Dalton Ghetti positions that mind over matter is vital when working on such a small scale. Likewise, the artist must learn how much pressure the fragile lead can withstand. Cindy Chinn will tell you that trial and error are the best teachers and that not every subject will translate into this medium. There is no doubt about it: the process of carving pencil graphite is delicate. What each artist has in great supply is patience, focus, excellent hand and eye coordination, and tenacity. Unlike the other two artists, Dalton will also use a needle. These sculptures are created using surprisingly few tools– mostly an X-Acto knife, a strong light, and occasionally a magnifier. 2 pencils to create intricate, micro-miniature sculptures, averaging around only half-an-inch high. Finding things like CBRNE hoods, replacement lenses, prescription glasses mounts, and other accessories is super easy, since it’s the current standard for U.S. The Avon M50 is a full-featured respirator for the most hazardous of environments, designed to be flexible enough to support everything from gas chamber qualifications to full-on Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs). In addition to my meager experience, this is the gas mask that CBRNE experts all recommended as the current cream of the crop, since it’s widely supported with an ecosystem of accessories and reliable enough to be considered the centerpiece for military CBRNE operations. It’s also standard-issue in the Marine Corps, meaning that it’s the gas mask that I have the most personal experience with on this list. It’s well-designed, and is specifically engineered to be more user-friendly and handy in a tactical environment. The Avon M50 is the standard-issue gas mask for the United States, Norway, Belgium, and Finland, and is seeing adoption in the militaries of other NATO partner allies, offering a wide variety of sizes, features, and aftermarket accessories. If any of you were hoping that we’d taken one of our employees and shoved him into a room with Sarin gas to see if the gas mask worked, I’m sorry to disappoint. This, combined with research and statistics to back up what they said, led to the recommendations today. ![]() ![]() How we testedįor this article, I drew upon my own experience wearing and selling gas masks, which helped make the practical application parts of this article easier, but acknowledged my own lack of expertise on the matter, and instead turned to CBRNE experts in the military and DoD civilian communities who have, in some cases, relied upon their respirators to save their lives while they work with hazardous chemicals and substances. Remember, when buying used, and at least once a year, check the seals of your gas mask to prevent contaminant infiltration. The advantage here is that there are ways that you can actually own the same gas masks trusted by military CBRNE specialists, and we’re here to show you these ways, and offer some important tips on how to make sure that the next time there’s some sort of airborne contaminant, you’re set. These hazards are nothing new, and people have taken to purchasing subpar (but heavily advertised) gas masks as a way to remediate this. The western United States experiences wildfires and high levels of airborne smoke, which can aggravate respiratory illnesses, and during the BLM protests in 2020, many people realized that the clouds of CS gas used by the police affected everyone, even if they weren’t physically at the protest. service members have realized that gas masks aren’t just for suffering through yearly gas mask qualifications, but are useful tools for any sort of situation where airborne chemicals or particulates are present. ![]() ![]() ![]() It is natural to wonder, “What is the speaker’s purpose, and what should I take away from this information?” Therapeutic or Empathic Listening Photo by MabelAmber on Pixabay ![]() Instead, critical listening entails paying close attention to the transmitted information, comparing how it corresponds to one’s values and forming an opinion.īecause we are all unique, we will not always agree with the other person’s words.
